Covington
Covington Residence | Pasadena, CA
Completion: February 2020 – July 2024
Scope: Complete renovation and remodel with a new master bedroom, kitchen/great room, basement media room, and fully redesigned landscaping
Size: Approx. 5,000 sq. ft., 5 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, powder room, basement media room, project room, bar, living room, great room, and kitchen
This Pasadena family home was a true labor of love, a four-and-a-half-year complete renovation that transformed the residence into a warm, colorful, and family-friendly retreat. The clients sought a traditional yet vibrant home that balanced comfort, livability, and striking design. Inspired by the interiors of the designer’s own home, as well as work by Suzanne Rheinstein, Gil Schafer, and Katie Ridder, the project blends antiques and contemporary furnishings with layered textures and bold color palettes.
Design Highlights & Unique Features:
Entry: Farrow & Ball wallpaper sets the tone for the home, paired with a beautiful Persian rug and Urban Electric wall sconces.
Living Room: Featuring new wainscot detail, custom fireplace, and vibrant textiles, this space is the heart of the home, full of warmth and personality.
Bar: Modeled after the Ralph Lauren Polo Lounge, with a green painted ceiling, custom banquette, and artful lighting. The onyx fireplace was replaced with a striking black marble with white veining to perfectly suit the space.
Loggia: Custom hand-painted floors bring color and pattern to the outdoor living space.
Kitchen & Great Room: A spacious island, custom Welsh cabinet painted in Farrow & Ball Oval Room Blue, and a mix of Schumacher and custom fabrics create a welcoming hub for family life. The great room includes a green sectional, Michel Ferrand dining table, and Aesthetic dining chairs in a custom color.
Basement Media Room: Brick-colored linen wallpaper adds warmth, while a large sectional ensures comfort for movie nights.
Project Room: Practical yet beautiful with an island, cubbies, and even a wrapping paper drawer for creative tasks.
Bedrooms & Baths: Each bedroom and bath features thoughtful details—from embroidered drapery and grasscloth wallcoverings in the primary suite to bold tile patterns and playful trims in the children’s rooms.
Front Stairs & Hallways: Elizabeth Eakins stair runners add a sophisticated touch throughout the home.
Exterior: Custom lighting, Brown Jordan furniture, and high-quality outdoor fabrics create inviting spaces for entertaining and relaxation.
